Name: Claire Redfield
Door: Right

Canon: Resident Evil
Canon Point: Post Resident Evil 2

Age: 19
Appearance: Appearance

History: History
Personality: Claire is a strong-willed, independent young firecracker of a lady that don't need no man. You know, if you don't count the fact that her brother is leading her on a Carmen Sandiego-esque chase around the world, because not staying put during an apparent zombie apocalypse is probably the single smartest thought her brother Chris has ever had in his life. All joking aside, Claire is extremely close to her brother, especially since they are all each other really has left in the world. Despite being the younger sibling, Claire comes off as the more responsible one as she starts her journey into Raccoon City to search for him after receiving no contact for a few weeks. Like a good older brother, Chris' disappearance leads Claire into a zombie-infested hellhole of a city--and yet she still maintains that sisterly affection enough to chase him onward to Europe. But that's a whole other story.

For those that aren't her family, Claire is very quick to draw her opinions of others--for better or worse. You can see both sides of this coin very clearly in Resident Evil 2. On one side, Leon S. Kennedy saves her life, announces he's a cop, and that he's headed into Raccoon City to see what the ever loving fuck is going on. This immediately puts him in Claire's good graces, earning him a friend for life from a girl that may as well get an honorary membership card from the Hell's Angels. On the flipside is Annette Birkin, a distracted and neglectful mother who's only priority seems to be notating her husband's descent into the madness and transformations brought on by the G virus. You know, instead of fretting about her 12-year-old daughter being caught up in a zombie apocalypse. Claire is quick to call her out on her bullshit, frequently and with some pretty heavy-handed curses to boot. That isn't to say that all of Claire's initial judgments stick though. While coming from a point beyond her current moment in canon, Claire does change her opinion of one Steve Burnside in Code: Veronica. Initially believing him to be nothing more than some snot-nosed, showoff, Claire does come to trust Steve implicitly, even demanding that she and Chris cannot leave him behind when trying to escape an Umbrella base in Antarctica (yeah, this series is wild).

Claire does have one singular weakness when it comes to socialization and meeting people--that being the need to protect younger children. Claire is very altruistic and empathetic and is very quick to try and comfort kids and protect them from the horrors they likely have found themselves in. A majority of her time in Resident Evil 2 is spent trying to either protect Sherry or save her--sometimes with the risk of her own life being on the line. The bonds she forms with these kids is akin to that of an older sister, or even to the point of being almost motherly. This isn't a singular case with Sherry Birkin either, as she repeats this with Rani in Degeneration, and continues to be very protective of Moira Burton in Revelations 2.

What stands out with all of these interactions is the fact that Claire is a deeply emotional and compassionate person. She is one of the few among the series' heroes to display rash and strong emotions. Her anger, fear, and sadness seem to be worn on her sleeve throughout the events of Resident Evil 2 (not that one can blame her given the traumatic experiences). A lot of these emotional outbursts stem from witnessing others needlessly or selfishly causing harm to others--it is an injustice that she cannot seem to stand. This is seen explicitly in the ways she reacts to Annette Birkin and the G-creations, and to the absolute disgust she holds for Chief Irons during their confrontation. In fact, her anger with Irons, in particular, is very poignantly stated in how little reaction and remorse she seems to have for the man's death as he falls to what is essentially a G-bred chest-burster.

However, despite her understandable emotional reactions to the horrors faced in Raccoon City and the NEST facility below it, Claire does have the capacity to be level headed when the time calls for it. This is seen in how she handles Sherry's infection with G, readily making her way to the Umbrella NEST facility in order to find the girl a cure. She is singularly focused on this task and doesn't stray from her target. The only time she abandon's the idea of going to Sherry herself is after she retrieves the DEVIL vaccine and is faced with G-Stage 3 on her way back. Rather than running headlong back to Sherry with a monster on her heels, she instead gives that task to Annette so that she can deal with G. This is not only an example of her understanding the needs of the situation and acting accordingly, but also of her ability to be compassionate and understanding that Sherry would want her mother there at her side and that Annette needed that chance to be the mother she never really was.

Powers and Abilities: While Claire may seem like a superhero with how she survived Raccoon City, she is just your average person. Her abilities range from understanding how to use multiple firearms to hand-to-hand combat she picked up from her military-trained brother. Basically, she knows how to use a gun, and if you're close quarters you better hope she doesn't get an opening and doesn't have a knife. She's quick thinking, and reactive--in a pinch, she falls back on instinct and that hasn't exactly failed her yet.

Outside of her combat experience and knowledge, Claire also knows her way around a motorcycle. Prior to losing her Harley in the Raccoon City incident, that bike was one of her only modes of transportation. Being that she was a college kid and that her brother was military-trained in several vehicles (of which known maintenance is a requirement), it can be assumed that she knew how to maintain it and fix it--you can't always afford a mechanic on a college kid's budget.
